MADE WITH HOMBYS
Mini Whale Friends by @raynie.day.friends
A little ocean-inspired charm in soft sky blue and blush pink. Maker @raynie.day.friends shared a collection of fluffy mini whales, with patterns from @sabsstuffies’ Mini Sea Squad collection.
Rounded bodies, little fins, expressive embroidered eyes, and soft white details bring each whale to life. The oversized chenille stitches give the small shapes their wonderfully plush texture, while the blue-and-pink palette keeps the group playful and gentle.
The Story Behind the Whales
The original post invited followers to visit the maker at an Art in the Park event at the Blue Whale of Catoosa. It credited the whale pattern to @sabsstuffies and explicitly named HOMBYS Sky Blue yarn. This showcase preserves the finished creations and their credits; the event invitation in the original image is historical rather than a current event listing.

GET THE COLOR STORY
Start with a Sky Blue Mixed Pack
For a coordinated shopping option, our Cream & Sky Blue 8-skein pack includes 4 skeins of each shade. Sky Blue is named by the maker; Cream is a warmer alternative for pale details, not a confirmed original shade. Choose Pure White for a brighter contrast, and add Pink if making the pink version. Black may be used for pattern-specified accents.

Planning Your Supplies
The original post does not give finished dimensions, skein counts, or a full supply list. The linked packs are purchase options, not confirmed quantities needed for a whale or a pair. Follow the designer’s pattern for yarn, filling, embroidered details, and finishing supplies.

YARN PLANNING · REFERENCE ESTIMATE
How much yarn should I prepare?
Quantity status: needs the original pattern.
Shaped, stuffed, wrapped or multi-piece construction cannot be reliably converted from flat area. The original pattern must confirm dimensions, stitch density, piece count and yarn needed in each shade.
| Yarn / color group | Whole-skein planning budget |
|---|---|
| 4 Cream+ 4 Sky Blue | Pattern-specific quantity required |
| Pink | Pattern-specific quantity required |
| Pure White | Pattern-specific quantity required |
| black | Pattern-specific quantity required |
Use the original pattern’s yarn weight or yardage for each color, then divide by the yarn length / weight on the product label and round up. Do not assume an 8-skein pack will make every item in a group photo.
Before buying: swatch in the intended stitch, measure the finished swatch and yarn used, then scale to your chosen size. The reference size above is an assumption unless marked maker-reported. These figures do not establish the original finished size or actual yarn used.
